Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Baby Shop Company Ireland (a division of Caruso Consulting Co Ltd, "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you visit babyshop.irish or buy from us.

Who is responsible for your data

Caruso Consulting Co Ltd is the controller of your personal data. We handle it in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988 to 2018. Privacy questions and requests are handled by our team at theteam@customersupport.care.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the store and look after you.

• When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address (street, town, county, Eircode and country), any order notes, what you bought, the delivery method you chose, any discount code you used, and the amount you paid.
• Payment information: card payments are handled by Stripe Checkout and PayPal payments by PayPal, on their own systems. We receive confirmation that the payment went through and a payment reference. We never receive or store your card details.
• When you contact us: your name, email address, your message and anything you choose to include, whether you email us, use our contact or wholesale quote form, or leave feedback on our review page.
• When you use the chat assistant: the messages you type into it.
• When you browse: our hosting provider handles your IP address and basic details of each request so it can deliver pages to you. The Google tag loads on every page in Google's consent mode: until you accept analytics cookies it sets no cookies and records nothing that identifies you. If you accept, Google Analytics also records things like the pages you visit, how you arrived, and your device and browser type.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

• To take, deliver and support your order, including order and shipping emails, returns and refunds. The legal basis is that we need it to perform our contract with you.
• To keep the business records the law requires, such as accounting records. The legal basis is our legal obligation.
• To prevent fraud and keep the store secure, and to answer your messages. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe store and helping our customers.
• To understand how the site is used through Google Analytics. The legal basis is your consent, which you give or refuse in our cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.

If we send you marketing emails, we will only do so where the law allows, and you can ask us to stop at any time by emailing theteam@customersupport.care.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with the service providers we need to run the store, and only what each one needs:

• Stripe and PayPal, who take your payment.
• Vercel, who hosts this website and runs our checkout.
• Supabase, where our order records are stored.
• Resend, who sends our order emails.
• The warehouse, supplier and courier that pack and deliver your order, who receive the details needed to deliver it, such as your name, delivery address and phone number.
• Google, for Google Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies). Our pages also load their typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers.
• IntellextAI, who provides the chat assistant on our pages.
• Our form system, served from app-marketing-command-centre.vercel.app, which receives what you send through our contact, wholesale quote and review feedback forms.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data.

Data processed outside the European Economic Area

Caruso Consulting Co Ltd and some of our team are based outside the European Economic Area (EEA), and several of the providers above store or process data outside the EEA. Where that happens, the transfer is made under a safeguard the GDPR recognises, such as a European Commission adequacy decision or the Commission's standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for more detail about a transfer by emailing us.

Cookies and browser storage

Your cart, any discount code you apply and your delivery choice are kept in your own browser's local storage, not on our servers. Google Analytics sets no cookies until you accept them in our cookie banner. The full detail, and how to change your choice, is on our Cookie Policy page.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we need them for business and accounting purposes, including the period Irish law requires for tax and accounting records. We keep messages and enquiries while they are useful. When we no longer need personal data, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your data, or to restrict how we use it.
• Object to our use of your data where we rely on our legitimate interests, and object to marketing at any time.
• Ask for a copy of data you gave us in a format you can move to another service.
• Withdraw your consent, for example to analytics cookies, at any time. This does not affect what was done before you withdrew it.

To make a request, email theteam@customersupport.care. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on it, and we will reply within one month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can try to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie, or to the data protection authority of the EU country where you live.

Keeping it secure

This site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and your card details are handled by Stripe and PayPal rather than by us. No method of sending or storing data over the internet is completely secure, but we take care to protect yours.

Children's privacy

We sell products for babies and children, but our store is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us their data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
